Ableton

Preve has been a principal sound designer for Ableton since 2004. This role has encompassed every aspect of sound development, from creating waveform data for use in Ableton's sampling/synthesis tools to developing custom effects presets.

Product Credits

Live 7 (2007) - Converted and embelleshed the effects chain processing and macros for over 300 presets that ship with Ablteon Suite, as well as the individual synths – Electric, Tension and Analog.

Live 6 (2006) - Preve designed over 100 presets, macros, and custom wavetables that form the basis for Live 6's Instrument Rack collection.

Live 5 (2005) - Created the majority of preset sounds and drum kits for Simpler and Impulse, respectively. Developed new musical MIDI and drum pattern clips for Simpler, Impulse, and Operator. Created numerous custom effects presets and serial effects chains.

Operator (2004, 2005) - Developed numerous original factory presets based on Operator's FM synthesis algorithms.

Korg

In 2005, Korg asked Francis to create a celebrity collection of patches for their Legacy Collection software for promotional use on KorgUser.net. This led to an ongoing relationship that includes presets for Korg's most prestigious products.

OASYS - MOD7 (2007) - Contributed to the factory collection of sounds that shipped with the MOD7 FM synthesis upgrade to Korg's flagship synth, the OASYS.

Legacy Collection - Mono/Poly (2006) - Contributed to the factory collection of sounds that shipped with the Legacy Collection's software version of the Korg Mono/Poly.

Legacy Collection - Polysix (2005) - Created custom bank of unique analog textures, in conjunction with custom effects for each preset, utilizing the analog-style capabilities of Korg's software-based Polysix.

Antares

When Antares began developing their quad multimode filter plug-in, they enlisted the services of Francis Preve to ensure that the rhythmic and LFO-based properties of this effect were highlighted for the international dance community.

Filter (2003) - Developed bank of 64 custom presets optimized for electronica and dance music.

NemeSys/Tascam

From 1999-2000, Francis Preve served as Program Director for NemeSys (now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tascam). During this time, he oversaw all sound design activities, as well as being a key player in the development and marketing of GigaStudio, arguably one of the most popular software samplers available for the PC.

Since 1999, Preve has become one of the most prominent sound designers in the music technology industry.

Synthesis pioneers such as Ableton, Korg, and Tascam have tapped him for everything from product design consultation to preset development.

Preve is currently developing several new forms of synthesis, which should find their way into the marketplace within the next few years.
